Latar Belakang

First of all, all praises due to God, because of Him we can gather in this meeting without any obstacles. Thank you all being here today. Let me introduce myself. My name is Basit Adhi Prabowo and you can call me Basit. I am in charge as a head of data center and information system in Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta. I’m here today to present my Journey in Mahidol University.

1st Day

welcoming event
welcoming event

It’s my first experience, to have a journey to other country, without my mother language for a week. I flew through from Indonesia – Kuala Lumpur – Thailand, from Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta to Mahidol University, in term of staff exchange. I arrived in Dong Mueang Airport at the night. I picked up by P Joy and P Champ, arrived in the apartment in 11 pm. And in the morning, at 7:30 am, I and P Joy go to Campus, walking and use tram. The first place to visit is Canteen, of course. Before reached that place, we passing by a call center, and I asked P Joy: What it is for? And she answered: it is an alert system to call security, in the condition there is any dangerous situation, or somebody confuse and want to get informed, etc. We also passed by Mahidol Learning Center (MLC), which looks like a mall actually. It has some store, like shirt store and others. In MLC Canteen I could learn about payment system (like a credit/debit card) and self-cleaning system. I heard National Anthem at 8 am and everyone stand up, it’s nice really. After breakfast, we went to Physical Therapy Faculty (PT) to join welcoming event. Ajarn [acan] Pakaratee, Deputy Dean for International Affairs and Organizational Communications, introduced PT and some head of the staff to me, and we exchanged the gift for each others. It was a pleasure. Then, P Nut [nat] taken my picture for ID Card and we move to the next level. In the way, I met some nice people. We went to Education and they explained to me about staff, computer laboratory schedule and application letter form using paper. I explained to them that in Indonesia we use Computer Based Test for National Exit Exam, except for Midwifery. After that, we visited the library. P Ning and Ajarn Pairoj showed me about library’s attendance and e-library. Ok, then we move to the next level. P Un, gave me a lot of explanation about device in the 6th level and he have a room to service or fix some device. Maybe UNISA need more effort to make the same level as PT in physical therapy devices and research. Next, go to Pinklao campus/clinic.

The first destination in Pinklao is server room, it’s P Champ teritory. He gave me a lot of information and there is something that in UNISA doesn’t exist yet, like Air Conditioning monitoring, HA, VPN remote, etc. Then, we move to 1st floor to try auto type using ID card, it’s a good idea for me, really. Then, I have small talk with PT Dean, Ajarn Roongtiva, it was a pleasure. At last but not least, we had a nice clinical trip with P Pang. I’m speechless. For Information, Phisycal Therapy Clinic, both Salaya and Pinklao, has been visited by 500 patients per day on average. Salary of Junior Physical Theraphist is 60.000 baht (Rp 27 juta)/month include overtime, and for Senior is 90.000 baht (Rp 40 juta)/month include overtime (1 baht = Rp 455).

2nd Day

academic

Tuesday is exciting tour too, this time we focus on MLC Building. Before tour, I was given my ID Card by P Joy. In the first tour, we came to university academic office. We shared many things in this place and we have many similiarity. Then, we go to elearning room, to get explanation of the elearning system. I found that Thailand have regulation that most of the education system must be doing by face to face. So, most of Mahidol University elearning is for comunity or public. Mahidol University have a multimedia team that can help make a high quality elearning material, like video, etc, but most lecturers have their own team. After lunch, we went to the IT department. P Manita give a great presentation in a great conference room and I copied the presentation material. P Chu and other team member give a lot of information too. Actually, Mahidol University and UNISA can cooperate to develop together.

3rd Day

promotion
promotion

It’s a promotion day. We went to Kanchanaburi with a bus at 7:30 a.m. Everyone can know the position of the bus and can fill a satisfaction survey with smartphone. The trip was around 2 hours long. This promotion event organized by Kanchanaburi Campus and invite high school around Kanchanaburi. The event started with online quiz about high school student knowledge about Mahidol University. Then each faculty present about their faculty, 5 minutes each. After it ended, high school students asked each faculty in the booth, answered by Ajarn Jooh and P Joy, and I speechless because they speak Thai.

4th Day

joy
joy

It’s discussion day. First presentation was from P Joy. Nice presentation about internal communication (email, line, website: both internet and intranet, meeting, wire speaker broadcast), TV Channel (Mahidol TV and Government Thai PBS) that we don’t have yet, line@ to broadcast information to patient, usage of google calendar, etc. Second: P A. Nice presentation about all international event and scholarship, including inbound, oubound, visiting professor, etc. Well documented. She has a job to send summary email about all activities or news that every one in PT should know. Third: P Nut. Nice presentation about elearning in both University and PT. Fourth: P Moo. Nice presentation about software (like Microsoft License Agreement), how to borrow device/equipment, how to manage computer laboratory using freeware HandyCafe Server that I think it’s a good idea for me, well organized user manual that we want to adopt, etc. Fifth: P Yod, the nice boss. Nice presentation about information system in PT, including HRD, scheduling, conference, etc. So I think, P Yod and P Champ make a great job to facilitate their co-workers in PT, so the job is more easier dan more faster. In UNISA, we only have University based system and I will keep it’s be like that as long as I’m still in charge as Head of IT Department. And it’s honour for me that Ajarn Roongtiva give me a chance to enter her room, make a warm chat and take some photo. Thank you for everything. It was a pleasure.

5th Day

Fifth day is Friday and free day, I mean this day I only finish this report, doing Jum’ah pray in MCM located in 2nd floor MLC building, doing a presentation as a final work for staff exchange and then free from work. I present about my experience in Mahidol University in front of Ajarn Wattana, Deputy Dean for Administration and a moslem lecturer. In Mahidol University, we exchange our knowledge, idea and working system. I gave signed Islamic IT Policy to Ajarn Wattana as gift, but not directly.

If you are moslem:

In my opinion, it’s quite easy life for daily routine of a Moslem. In Thailand, we can find praying room in public area or some Masjid in nearby. In fact, Mahidol University provides space for Muslim in Moslem Club Mahidol and they organize Jum’ah prayer. In Thailand, we can find Halal Food quite easy.

And I gave some suggestions.

For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.

Khob khun krab. Terima Kasih.
